Health

We prioritize health FIRST above all else, using a mixture of tests to ensure all of our parents are the healthiest they can be and produce the most healthy puppies! We look very closely at the genetics of our parents before deciding on a pairing. We want you to enjoy years of stress-free, happy, healthy years with your puppy!

Beauty

Health

Health

We prioritize beauty second, because we believe that a miniature golden retriever should actually LOOK like a golden retriever and also reflect the beauty that this classic breed is known for! We spend lots of time combining physical traits of parents before settling on a match that will bring out the best of either pair in their puppies!

Size

Health

Size

Last of all, but not least, we focus on the size of our puppies! We want our dogs to fit every lifestyle, which is why we have a mix of sizes to best suit our family's needs and wishes! We want our dogs to be easy to manage, move, and travel with, while not being so small that they inherit negative characteristics or become a hassle to own.

What is a Mini golden?

Golden Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, and Poodle

Golden retrievers are the most beloved dog in America for a reason. They are fiercely loyal, smart, gentle, loving, and people-oriented. They get along great with other dogs, new situations, and new people. They are some of the best dog breeds you can use for service and therapy work, as they are extremely smart, quick to learn, and eager to please. They primarily don't have aggression, anxiety, or reactive behavior like other dog breeds do. They have that long, gorgeous coat with the beautiful feathering, the proud head and chest, and the wise, soulful eyes.

Cocker spaniels are very similar to the golden retriever, if a little more of the home-body dogs who like to stay with you more than anything. They are described as one of the most "merry" dog breeds, constantly wagging their tails and in a happy mood. They are eager to please and people-focused rather than dog focused, making them ideal family companions. Despite all this, they have very gentle souls and can be hurt when their owners are disappointed with them, so positivity is key!

Poodles are known as the second smartest dog in the world, meaning they are very sharp, smart, and quick to learn. They are highly adaptable to new situations, areas, and people. They are a very proud, goofy, and witty breed, enjoying being the center of attention and attracting the most laughs. They tend to prefer strange dogs over strange people, but are protective and loyal to a fault around their families.

These traits combined make a highly loyal, intelligent, friendly, social, and happy dog! We watch the temperaments and personalities of all of our dogs to ensure they pass on the best traits to their puppies, keeping the most sound structure related to the golden retriever as possible!

Why choose the mini golden?

Mini goldens are a fantastic choice for families who want/need a smaller sized dog without trading in the characteristics and temperament that they love. Whether it's because you live in an apartment with a size limit, you're a frequent traveler who needs an easily movable and manageable size, you're older and can't manage a large dog, or simply because you find the size easier, mini goldens fit the bill! Small breeds can have bad anxiety, nerves, or reactive issues, so having a smaller-sized dog with the friendly, happy, easy going personality of the golden retriever is a major attraction for families who don't want to have to pick and choose!

They are cheaper! Everything from food, water, grooming, tools, travel, etc. is cheaper with a mini golden! There's just not as much of them, and so managing them is not only easier, but also much cheaper than managing a 60-80 lb golden retriever.

They can be healthier! I will be the first to admit that there are fantastic golden retriever breeders who prioritize health above all, but there are some things that can't be done or undone in a shorter amount of time. By combining these breeds, we lower their individual risks of diseases and issues. We use Embark which tests for over 191 different genetic defects to ensure that pups never receive something unhealthy from their parents, and also OFA test for hips, elbows, eyes, cardiac, thyroid, and patella in each of our parent dogs to lower the risk for certain diseases related.

We have been interviewed, tested, and trialed by different training organizations, including service and therapy dog training facilities and companies. Three of our pups have gone on to become service dogs or therapy dogs, and if that doesn't speak to how amazing they are, I don't know what does!

Our commitment to our puppy families

We will always take back a puppy for any reason, at any stage in life, no questions ask. We right it into our puppy contracts that if a family ever needs to re-home their pup because of life circumstances, they have to give them back to us so that we can find them a new home. This keeps our puppies out of terrible kennels, pounds, and shelters, and ensures I will always know where my puppies are at any given time.

You get lifetime support from us! I absolutely adore my puppy families, and have made multiple little group text threads with our litter families so that they can keep in touch and updated on what their pup's littermates are up to! If you have any questions at all, at any time, I am more than happy to respond to you within a few hours and share what I know about the problem or question you are facing! If you want to come over and have a playdate, we'd love to do that as well!

Nutrition is our top priority!

PawTree Kibble

Here at Happy Tails Mini Goldens we have chosen top-quality nutrition and supplements for our dogs. Using food that is part real meat, part raw vegetables, and part grains, we are always aware of what is going into our dog's food and bodies to guarantee a long, happy, and healthy life! We see a vast difference in our dog's temperaments, coat consistency, and behavior when we use food with lots of fillers versus when we use PawTree, and we are very confident when we say that this food is our favorite and we would 100% recommend it to anyone and everyone!

PawTree VITAMINS/GUMMIES

Even though food is a large step for our dog's health, we also use gummies and vitamins for our dogs to help with joint, immune system, and coat health. Using salmon gummies and drops, our dog's coats are silky and smooth 100% of the time and we have even noticed a decrease in shedding! Joint support gummies can protect stiff and sore joints and ensure normal joint function, leaving our dogs comfortable and playful every day! Immune supplements help with immune health, digestive issues, liver support, and healthy skin.
