When someone is buying a mini golden, they want a puppy that actually LOOKS like a golden retriever, not a poodly or cockery version of them. Because of this, I'm going to be trying my best to create puppies with short, flat fur on their ears (no crimps, curls, or extra-long length, even though I personally love it...), shorter legs (no extra-long poodle legs), deep chests (not the narrow, shallow chests of the poodle or cocker spaniel), blocky muzzles (no sharp or pointed ones), wavy coats (no curly or puffy fur), and the big droopy eyes (no bug eyes or leaky eyes). This will keep our dogs and puppies looking like golden retrievers while still maintaining that smaller size that we love! 

After 2026, I am aiming to produce puppies that are at least 60% golden retriever. This may vary when I'm doing a litter in order to create an unrelated line to add to my program, but for my average puppies, I want them to be 60% to 90% golden retriever. I want this because breed influences looks and personality traits a lot, and I want all my dogs and puppies to inherit as much of their golden retriever side as they can! I want the poodle influence to be at a max of 20%, and the cocker spaniel influence to be at a max of 30%. 

All of our dogs will have a low COI. This means that we will be adding in outside bloodlines, pedigrees, and dogs to our program to make sure that the inbreeding level, when compared to other purebreds or mixed breeds, is very low (I'm aiming for 1-10%). All of our dogs (and puppies) will not be affected by any genetic disease, both related to and unrelated to their breeds. This means no hip or elbow problems related to the golden, no ear or heart problems related to the cocker, and no eye or temperament problems related to the poodle. Just 100% healthy, unaffected adults and puppies. When our dogs are tested through the Orthopedic Foundation, I want to cover their prelims (due at 1 year) and their official OFA certificates (due at 2 years) with a score of at least "fair" or "good" and no less. This helps reduce the risk of problems in adults and puppies as they age. 

I'm more flexible on sizes because I know that every family's wants and wishes are different - some people want super small puppies, and some people want the bigger, closer-to-home golden retriever sizes. Because of this, my puppies will still average about 20-45 lbs full grown, though we'll be going slightly smaller, so 25-35 lbs will be most common (not many litters in the 20 and 45 lb ranges).  

I'll be breeding my momma dogs about every eight months or so, and I may have one or two litters at the same time depending on my time and flexibility. I want to give each puppy and litter the same love and attention as any other! My moms also need time to heal, gain their weight back, and recover from having puppies, so part of that time frame is for them as well! 

For each of my litter pairings, it is my goal to breed either as good or better than the parents. If the puppies will be worse off, I would only breed them under very specific reasons and maybe not even then. I want each puppy to have a better health panel, temperament, structure, and confidence than their two parents, and if I succeed in that then I know I've done well!
