WHAT IS A GUARDIAN HOME?

A guardian home is when we have the opportunity for a family to adopt one of our puppies for a reduced cost. This may be a puppy from our parent dogs, or from another breeder that we had decided to add as a future prospect to our program. In the easiest to understand way possible, a guardian home family means that you own, love on, and take care of that puppy while we still get to breed them. It can be different for girls and boys, so take a look! 

Females - if they pass all of their health screenings and can be permitted into our program - are bred for a grand total of four litters. We may decide to retire them earlier than those four litters (like if having puppies is too stressful, unhealthy, or draining for the mom), but we will never breed them for more than those four litters. The female will stay with us for the eight week period of raising and nursing her puppies, and then she goes back home to you to live out the rest of her time. We breed females with at least an eight-month recovery period, so realistically the moms are away from you about once a year for raising and birthing puppies (you are more than welcome to visit mom and her puppies while she's away). Other appointments we may steal her away for could be health testing, progesterone testing, or breeding appointments, which will only take a few hours, and are only once or twice a year. Once the female has completed her four litters (or however many we decide to have with her) she will be spayed and get to live out the remained of her long and happy life with you!  

Males - if they pass all of their health screenings and can be permitted into our program - have a longer, but more concise breeding schedule. He will be bred whenever we are planning a litter with him, and this may include taking him for a few hours/three days (at the longest) for his breeding appointments. Realistically, this can happen once every few months or so. We may also take him for other appointments like health testing and vet exams, which only take a few hours. He is bred for a total of seven years (though we may decide to stop breeding at any time, even as early as his first litter) and won't be bred any longer than that period of time. Once he has completed his breeding contract with us, he will be neutered and get to live out the rest of his life with you! 

Some other details include these: if - for any reason - the dog cannot be bred, we will spay/neuter them and they will still be your dog at no additional costs. We cover all breeding expenses, but their families must cover the everyday dog expenses (eg. grooming, food, collars, leashes, crates, etc.). We will cover the cost of spaying and neutering, and any additional appointments related to breeding. 

Requirements: Must live inside Utah, own your own house, have a fenced yard, and feed your guardian pup PawTree. If we see any signs of abuse or complications with the dog when they are with us as a result of your treatment, we will take the dog back immediately and you will not be permitted to have them back again. Your dog cannot ever be bred with any outside dogs that we do not agree on - this is our breeding dog and your family dog, so you must treat it as such.
