Happy Tails' Ruby!

Ruby is one of our home-grown mini golden girls, the daughter of Darlin and Teddy! She was Embark tested early on so that we could see all of her best characteristics and traits before deciding on adding her to our breeding program.  Ruby is 58.1% poodle and 41.9% golden retriever, making her our least retriever momma and our smallest one as well. We expect her to be around 18-23 lbs full grown, with a mahogany red coat, dark brown eyes, and her mom's beautiful looks and her dad's calm disposition. 

Ruby is completely free of the IVDD gene, a common concern in smaller breeds, though she does carry one copy of ICH, which is a common skin condition in golden retrievers. Carrying one copy won't affect her or her puppies, ensuring everyone will be healthy and happy all their lives. Genetically, she also has seven red intensity genes and three white intensity genes, meaning she can be paired with a variety of studs and produce puppies in a wide range of beautiful colors in the color and red range. 

She’s up to date on vaccines and deworming, has been cleared by our vet, and will be completing her OFA evaluations for hips, heart, and eyes in the coming months. We keep her thriving with a diet of PawTree kibble, which supports her strong body and happy and playful nature! Embark

Ruby is an extremely calm, chill, and easy-going puppy. She spends her days following us around the house, wrestling with dogs and cats who are twice her size, and gazing up at us with the biggest puppy eyes while we cook food around the kitchen. She's very smart and catches onto our house rules quickly and easily. She has a submissive, sweet personality that works well with any and all dog personality types. Ruby also loves to sleep a lot, cuddle up in your lap, or lick your face. She's very gentle, we've never heard her so much as bark, and has a very sweet disposition. Ruby is a bit more independent and less social than our other moms, preferring to stay around her people or the cats the majority of the time. She observes things before she tries them out to guarantee that she doesn't fail. Ruby is the cutest little girl! 

Ruby is a mix of golden retriever and poodle, mixing the best of both breeds into her personality, structure, and traits. She has the intelligence and smaller size of the poodle, along with the loyal, friendly nature and classic coat of a golden retriever. We expect her to weigh between 18 and 24 lbs full grown.

Her coat is a dark mahogany red color, darker around her face and ears, with lighter areas on her belly and chest. Her coat is on the fluffier side but lies flat against her face and seems to get smoother as she gets older. Her eyes are a deep brown color that reflects everything around her, and they’re outlined with black pigment that makes them stand out. She also has a black nose, black paw pads, and soft, and forward-sitting ears.

She’s a smaller sized dog— expected to be slightly larger than a poodle but smaller than a typical field-bred golden. With her pretty coloring, good structure, and easygoing temperament, Ruby is a great fit for our miniature golden retriever program!
